David N•Orto (born in 1985 in San Sebastián, Spain) studied at the School of Architecture in his hometown. Since his first exhibition in 2009, he has developed a distinctive visual language that merges architectural precision with a deeply personal and symbolic universe.
Drawing from his background in Architecture, N•Orto constructs enigmatic worlds where impossible structures, geometric landscapes and archetypal forms coexist with recurring motifs that have become the hallmark of his work; hidden cities, subterranean voids and sinkholes emerge throughout his paintings, establishing a dialogue with diverse subjects and creating a subtle yet persistent tension that challenges the viewer’s perception.
His compositions inhabit a territory between dream and unease, where echoes of Surrealism, Italian Metaphysical painting and conceptual graphic aesthetics are present without ever becoming direct quotations.
